as I told you previously, considering that you need to get several things right it might be a good idea to start fresh and build from source. 1. setup a fresh vm in a virtualisation setup of your choice 2. check that there is no openldap server package installed 3. build from source to keep it simple Alternatively change to an OS for which there are prepackages current openldap packages available.
