OK, then disregard all the previous discussion with respect to your 
issue (but consider it for real-world applications!).  Before you stat 
digging about the ALLID issue, can you post the logs of the search part 
(the candidate selection stuff, i.e. from

   conn=X op=Y SRCH base="Z" scope=2 deref=0 filter="F"

to

   bdb_search_candidates: ...

for both queries?
