What version of OpenLDAP are you using? This option is just fine with
anything since OpenLDAP 2.2, IIRC.
It's certainly been the right procedure for a while. But it's worth noting
that this probably works best >=2.3.12 (ITS#4088), though.
Should this be removed from the man page:
In general, your slapd(8) should not be running (at least, not in read-
write mode) when you do this to ensure consistency of the database.
Maybe, but I think ldbm configurations still have this as a dangerous
situation. Perhaps it could be removed in 2.4 when ldbm is removed?
