Hi,

I have Openldap 2.1.22 installed on my Linux box using ldbm db type.

This won't answer your question, but I will note that OpenLDAP 2.1.22 was an extremely broken release of the 2.1 line, and if you are going to use the 2.1 line, I highly advice moving to the last release in that series, 2.1.30. Of course, the 2.1 line is deprecated now, so in the long run, you'll help yourself by moving to OpenLDAP 2.2 before getting too involved in OL 2.1.
