Well, I ended up wiping out the box and reinstalling redhat. I installed

getting linked to the wrong sasl libraries. =(

Why isn't it linking with the one in /usr/local/lib. Also libdb-4.2.so
isn't found. I had it set in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH.

What's going on? Is there something that I am missing?

Did you set LD_RUN_PATH?

I do:

env LD_RUN_PATH="/usr/local/lib" make depend
env LD_RUN_PATH="/usr/local/lib" make
