mysterious slapd daemon crash

hi all,

i noticed a reproduceable crashing condition on my OpenLDAP server: if
someone tries to connect from a M$ application (outlook, outlook express)
and checks the box "use secure password authentication" in their setup slapd
will die.

i was wondering if anyone had seen that or even found a workaround. it's not
that i would like to enable this feature, i just want to stop the server
from crashing just because some clueless person checked the wrong checkbox.

my setup:

- Redhat 6.2

- openldap 2.0.6 compiled from source --with-tls

- authentication cleartext via SSL, no mechanisms like SASL or kerberos are
involved at all.
