I'm not going to be of much help. I wrote the dynamic LDAP spec and not the
general LDAP v3 spec. I think there's a way to get the version, but I'm not
sure. Try sending email to: ietf-ldapext@netscape.com

Yoram,

I noticed you wrote/co-wrote the LDAPv3 RFC, so I figured I should ask you
about this.  Is there a way to query a LDAP service for hte version?  Ie,
if I wanted to find the version of it or say Exchange remotely, is there a
way this can be accomplished using raw sockets? or another way?

Any help would be appreciated.
