This is unquestionably a great idea, one that we need to pursue, and one 
that I plan to chat with you Samba guys about in more detail soon. Some 
of the ideas we've been planning (self-tuning adaptive caching, etc.) 
require platform-specific knowledge at runtime and it's only going to 
fly if we can test adequately on a wide range of platforms.
