I installed it from the SuSE 9.0 DVD:

# cat /etc/SuSE-release 
SuSE Linux 9.0 (i586)
VERSION = 9.0
# rpm -q openldap2
openldap2-2.1.22-65

The slapd.conf that it comes with uses ldbm by default.  I notice that
recent discussions on this list have indicated that BDB should be used.  I
am now quite confused.  Perhaps I should remove the SuSE OpenLDAP package
and compile my own :-(
