Changing password on non-master server machines.

I have a small(10) network of systems runing LDAP. most of the clients 
are Windows, a couple are Linux. the main server is a RH71 system 
running OpenLDAP 2.0.11-8. I have two problems. First I can change my 
password on the server, but not on my Linux client. nor on a backup 
server. so I don't have something set right, but I'm not sure what, and 
I'm not sure what is needed to help debug it.
two, I downloaded and played with Evolution, a nifty email prog if you 
want that sort of thing. it supports LDAP address books, but i've not 
found anything on setting it up and would appreciate a pointer.(yes, I'm 
sending this quesiton to the evo list too)
