Design-questions
Hi,
i have a design-question.
I want to create an LDAP-directory for all my contacts, that means many o's.
I want to save postal-addresses on either the o or ou-level and for the people
I just want name, phone and mailaddress.
After reading the "understanding ldap" book from IBM I read about inheritance
but I am not quite sure I understood it correctly.
My first question is:
If I enter a new ou do I need an objectclass oranization for it also or don't
I.
If I create a new organizationalPerson, do I need to add the objectclassfields
for OU and O also to have this fields available.
Also when querying the server for something like "DN: CN=John Miller,
ou=Marketing, o=Foo Company, c=de" this entry has the fields:
CN=John MIller
sn=Miller
givenName=John
phoneNumber=something
email=something
But how do I get to his streedAddress and city if I want to write him a letter
easily. I would not like the thought, that I have to define this fields for
every person in this organization.
