Stop slapd, run recovery (i.e., db_recover).
I will note that OpenLDAP 2.1 is historic at this point. I advise
upgrading to the latest stable release (OpenLDAP 2.3.27) and a newer
version of BDB (bdb 4.2.52+patches or bdb 4.4.20+patches).
