(Answer) (Category) OpenLDAP Faq-O-Matic : (Category) OpenLDAP Software FAQ : (Category) Integration : (Answer) How does one integrate LDAP with name services using NSS?
There is a nameservice switch (NSS) module, which supports both the Solaris and GNU glibc NSS ABIs, provided by PADL (http://www.padl.com). It is a RFC2307 compliant set of C library extensions which allows X.500 and LDAP directory servers to be used as a primary source of aliases, ethers, groups, hosts, networks, protocol, users, RPCs, services and shadow passwords (instead of or in addition to using flat files or NIS). Code is released under the LGLP.

The PADL NSS LDAP mailing list is at (nssldap@padl.com).
