Thanks that did it. Sometimes it just takes a second set of eyes. So
while were on the topic of replication.... If a change is made on the
slave server will the changes be made on the master? or do I have to
set something else up?
The point of replication is that changes only get made to the master, which
then propagates them to the replicas. When someone attempts to make a
change to a replica, the "updateref" line in the replica's slapd.conf sends
back a referral to that location (which should be the master). It is then
up to the client to follow that referral and make the change on the master.
Most clients have no clue how to follow a referral, so don't do anything.
