Those scripts are broken; they've been unmaintained since 2.0. Use the
ones shipped with 2.2.18 (which I'm afraid will require 2.2.18).
In any case, that material is only provided as a guideline when
designing your own, it's not supposed to work with any reasonable
real-life installation.
