Outlook 2003 "unavailable critical extension"

Hello. I know the topic of Outlook and OpenLDAP has been discussed before. I may have a new variation on the theme.

First, let me say we are now using OpenLDAP 2.2.13, and it hasn't crashed at all! It seems to be working well. (See http://www.openldap.org/lists/openldap-software/200406/msg00429.html for the earlier problems.)

Some of our users use Outlook 2003. They're used to having to "find" users. When they search for something, they get "Unavailable critical extension." (Outlook Express users don't have the problem.)

After firing up Ethereal, I can see the following transaction:
  => bind request
  <= bind response
  => search request, base dn=o=WFU,c=US
  <= search entry
  <= search result
  => search request, "(&(sn=borwick))"
  <= search result, unavailable critical extension

So... 1) how does OpenLDAP know what extension is missing?
      2) do you know what the extension is?
      3) how can I get this fixed?

Thank you very much for your time and attention.

Yours,
John
