Re: Anyone on this list patient with stupid questions?

Allan, thanks for your reply. You asked:

> Does the directory specified in your slapd.conf exist?

Language is a funny thing. Such a simple question confuses me.

Are your asking, "Does a folder exist on my computer corresponding to the
directory I want to use with OpenLDAP?"

The answer is Yes:

For Contacts, there exists /var/lib/ldap/Contacts
For Commercial, there exists /var/lib/ldap/Commerical
For Professional, there exists /var/lib/ldap/Professional

Or, are you asking me, "Does my slapd.conf file contain statements for the
directories I want to use?"

The answer is Yes, my slapd.conf contains the following statements:

directory	/var/lib/ldap/Contacts
directory	/var/lib/ldap/Commercial
directory	/var/lib/ldap/Professional

Or, are you asking me, "Do any of these directories you keeping mentioning
exist, i.e. function?"

The answer varies. "Unknown" is an answer. "Not in my experience" is another.
"Your guess is as good as mine!" is yet another.

Thanks for the hint about full debugging.

Best regards,

Jonathan

P.S. I d/l JXplorer, since Brenda and you recommended it.
