understand this abreviation RTFM ??
also i have allowed in and out the ldap ports but still no luck is there any
other ports ie for kerberos , sasl i may need open ? also this is running on
my internet ip i might make it run on my internal ip somehow to make it
private then it will be behind the firewall, right now if i open the outside

Now you're moving into *my* terrain :-)
Depends on what firewall you're using an what you're trying. If you're
sensible, you're using Netfilter on a 2.4 kernel Linux box. In that case
RTFM, especially about stateful inspection. As for which ports, you
choose those yourself after having read the Openldap admin guide.
When all's said and done ...
there's nothing left to say or do.
