what is proper way to add users?

I use openldap on a redhat 7.2 box as the precursor to higher security and flexibility for software authentications later in live here at home\.

I want to add a user to my system, just a normal user.

What steps should I do?

Do I need to run the standard:

useradd -s /bin/bash -m lfs &&
passwd lfs

and THEN use like smbldap-useradd.pl to add the user to the ldap database? Or is there another way that is supposed to be used?
