Netscape roaming and openldap

I am trying to setup Netscape Roaming in combination with a ldap server.

Here is my problem. If I have nssswitch.conf point to the ldap before
local files, Netscape crashes with a "bus error". I can log into the
same machine using the ldap to authenticate myself. I can run Netscape
on a Windows NT 4.0 (SP6) system and log into my roaming profile. On the
same windows system, I can use Netscape's address book to look at the
ldaps database.
