Roaming profiles and SLAPD

Help,
I have setup roaming profile for slapd. Everything seems to work,
files
are uploaded and downloaded. When I query the ldap server for the
communicator elements I see my prefs file and everything. The only
thing
is, these file do not effect communicator in any way at all.

I can quit, zero my bookmarks file and then restart. I says
"syncronizing with server", but it doesn't seem to be. 
Does anyone have any ideas?

I am using communicator 4.61 under linux and NT, and the "release"
version of slapd.
