OpenLDAP & Netscape Calendar Server?

I tried to use OpenLDAP with the Netscape Directory Server and
got the following error message:
  The URL you just entered appears to be invalid or
  the specified directory server is not reachable. Please fix
  the problem and then type Y to continue or N to abort.

But obviously OpenLDAP is running on port 389 on this machine.
Has anybody else tried this?
