matching rule for server side sorting

For the matchingrule in the client request of server side sorting,
is it the oid or the string name of this matchingrule?

Let us say, for  matchingrules: ( 2.5.13.18 NAME 
'octetStringOrderingMatch' SYNTAX
1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.40 ). Is it 'octetStringOrderingMatch'
or 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.40?
