Why didn't you use a more recent release, say 2.1.9 with db4.1.24?

This can be an entry layout, but it is definitely not
a databse configuration.

It looks like you definitely need some optimization
(e.g. database indexing, db settings and so); browse
the archives, and significantly Berkeley db4 docs
for hints.
