replication

I have multiple directories world wide, each office get a copy of the other
branch stuff to make outlook queries quicker etc.  well this is the idea
anycase, my question is can I tell openldap replication to only replicate
certain parts of the tree and not the whole tree? will I need to rely on
access control on the others to only allow selective writing into the tree?
