Officially, at least. The Ubuntu tools make creating a personal backport
in a PPA easy, though:
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-dev-tools
# example: rebuild current devel release for 14.04
backportpackage -d trusty -u ppa:yourusername/yourppa openldap
