Exactly! I think it is important to include the notice in the change 
log: http://www.openldap.org/software/release/changes.html !

These announcements are not received by everyone (unless one is a member 
of the announcements mailing list), and it is not intuitive to be 
obliged to go through the announcements mailing list archives to find 
such important info! The change log is usually the central point of 
reference for admins when planning upgrades. IMHO, any and all notices 
of this type should be included therein. Even more so since the admin 
guide does not include these notices either!
