Why are you running such an ancient version of OpenLDAP?  Get a current
release and then see if you have issues.

Because this version is shipped with the last stable Ubuntu LTS.

That doesn't really answer the question. It has been noted numerous times for over a decade as to why using distribution provided OpenLDAP builds is generally a bad idea.

If you insist on using the distribution version, then you need to contact the distribution about your issues.
