Convert Certificates LDAP-compatible without "LDIF"-Command

Greetings,

I just wanted to ask, if there is a possibility to 
publish certificates to OpenLDAP 2.0 easy like in 
1.x with the "ldif"-command.

This was possible with this:
"ldif -b "usercertificate;binary" < outcert.der > cert.ldif",
as described here

The old "lfid"-command did the convertion to LDAP-
compatible BASE64 encoding and I suggest there
are other commandline based tools which do the
same, but I didn't find them.
