What I was trying to ask was whether OpenLDAP ensures
that no two entries for an attribute can be identical, like so:

dn: cn=Johnny Doe,ou=People,dc=example,dc=com
objectClass: person
cn: joe
cn: joe
sn: Doe

OpenLDAP allows this, and AFAIK, so does LDAP.

Updating attributes with my own software does not. I'm won't say it shouldn't at least be an option, but I haven't yet met the need.

I'm back at coding, so if anybody thinks otherwise or has anything else they'd like to see in a web to ldap gateway, *please* submit a suggestion:

I'll take them as requirements and at least furnish a response.
