So I believe that Frank was correct in assuming that RH 9.0, with its new Posix thread implementation, just doesn't report threads with ps. RH 8, by the way, didn't show all the threads via ps either. I believe RH 7.3 was the last to do so.

To show the threads , i do ps -axwm ...

The next question is, howcum updating glib changed that behavior and is
it intentional?

Don't know ... but now, doing ps -axwm show many instances of slapd ...
I don't understand everything but now it's ok ...
