   Sorry to jump in like this ( I saw this thread and did not get a 
change to respond ) ... I would like to know if there would be a problem 
just doing a `ldapsead -x -L -D "cn=Manager,dc=foobar" -w secret 
"(objectclass=*)" | bzip2 > ldap.ldif.bz2` ...
