help with syslogd?

Running on Solaris 8 with 2.0.14, but I can't get slapd to log to syslog,
regardless of compile options or 'loglevel.' I first assumed it'd compile
by default with syslog support, but I noticed in documentation somewhere
that --enable-syslog is a valid option, so I tried it out, but that doesn't
seem to have made a difference anyway. Logging works quite nicely under
Linux though.

syslog.conf:
local4.* /var/adm/ldaplog

(/var/adm/ldaplog has been 'touch'ed)

slapd.conf:
loglevel 256

Can someone slap me around please?

Thanks,
  John
