java, jndi, event notification

I have a question regarding jndi and openldap v2. The jndi service provider
interface (the part between the openldap and java) supports event
notification. Objects in java can listen on changes in values or on the
structure. 

The problem is that not all servers (hardly none) supports this feature. I
have only heard of one server from Netscape (expensive). Now onto my
question. I know that openldap v1 does not support this, but how about v2?
