Compile Problem on Solaris 7

On a Solaris 7 system, the ./configure script failed at the following reason:

      checking if pthread_create() works ....... no
     error: pthread.h and pthread_create are not compatible

Is anyone aware of this problem? Any suggestion on how to fix this problem?
