(ITS#1650) oops -- no corruption using gdbm

Well, its official -- I screwed up :-( The index corruption does not 
seem to occur using
gdbm. This may be a lead on the db3 index corruption which _definitely_ 
does occur. I
have been running db4 on my production server and there I have also seen 
some cases
of index corruption (not as frequent though).

Any thoughts on how to proceed?
