There is no init script included with the source distribution. Distropackages usually include their own. The LTB project also provides one.http://ltb-project.org/wiki/documentation/openldap-initscript

If you're building from source anyway, you might want to pick up a morerecent version while you're at it - 2.4.40 contains several importantbugs that have been fixed in later releases.
