That release is over 4 years old. There have been multiple fixes to the
sssvlv overlay since then. The first thing you need to do is install a
current build of OpenLDAP so you don't waste everyone's time hitting bugs
that have been long since fixed.
As for the vlv base/scope/filter bits you list, those seem to be an
unsupported extension hack that is no part of the proposed specification,
which you can read at:

It does not look like that hack has been added to the OpenLDAP SSSVLV
module. If you need that funcationality in the OpenLDAP sssvlv module, I
suggest filing an ITS with the contribution code.
