Hmm, installing all the contrib modules does not work anymore.
For example:
nb2:/usr/src/michael/openldap-git/re24/openldap/contrib/slapd-modules/noopsrch
# make install STRIP=""
mkdir -p /usr/local/libexec/openldap

libtool: install: error: cannot install `noopsrch.la' to a directory not
ending in /opt/openldap-RE24/libexec/openldap
make: *** [install] Error 1
Maybe a regression related to ITS#7656?
