There have been a multitude of bug fixes to slapd-ldap since the 2.4.23release (I counted over 10 in the CHANGES file). There are also numerousother reasons not to use the generally broken packages provided byRH/CentOS.

The first step to getting help with an issue like this is always going tobe to first verify whether or not it occurs on a current release.
