The version we are running is OpenLdap 2.3.43 on Gentoo Linux. I would
think that this version allows it as no issue arise.|

Recent versions permit slapcat while running, but in early versions this can cause major problems. Without knowing the exact version the safest advice is to stop the server first. Andrew
