As noted multiple times on this list, many people have reported having problems with BDB 4.3. I would suggest using a known stable BDB release (4.2.52+patches is generally recommended). I would also note that you are running a very old release. The current release is 2.3.25 (an entire release branch and nearly 30 releases later).
