Hm, that is odd... My syncrepl definition is:

syncrepl    rid=0
       provider=ldap://MASTERALIAS.stanford.edu:389

       bindmethod=sasl
       saslmech=gssapi
       searchbase="cn=accesslog"

       schemachecking=on
       type=refreshAndPersist
       retry="60 +"
       syncdata=accesslog



Note that this is based off of HEAD using the delta-syncrepl stuff, but the general idea is there...
