openldap config file parser?

Hi!

in order to be able to upgrade the openldap configfiles in
debian's between different versions I would like to parse the old
config file, use that as a template (or rewrite it from scratch
with the old configuration info) and add/change settings as
needed. 

Where does perl or shell code exist which is capable of
parsing/generating the openldap configfiles?
