List of configure option --help

Hi,

When I run ./configure script with the --help option, I get a list of 
options.

Does the [no], [yes], and [auto] means the default is no or yes or auto?

For example --enable-slurpd      enable building slurpd [auto]

Whats the different between yes and auto?
