Re: Missing declaration of ref attribute and referral object class in core.schema

Hello,

I just wondering why there isn't an explicit definition for
ref and referral at least in core.schema.

Is there any special reason for that?

Since their definitions are required for the correct operation of referrals, the definitions have been hardcoded into slapd. Many schema definitions that are required for slapd's operation have been moved out of the core.schema file and into the code for similar reasons. For this reason, you must always use the core.schema file that was included with the particular OpenLDAP release you are using. E.g., an OpenLDAP 2.0 core.schema file will not work with OpenLDAP 2.1 or 2.2, or vice versa.
