Then, you would be using openldap-2.0.27, which does not have the
monitor backend. You need at least openldap-2.1.x, but you're probably
best off going straight to 2.2.x.

It depends ... if you have packages for 2.1.x or 2.2.x, there should be
no need to compile from source.
