Yes.

But, I suspect that answering the question in your subject line would
take us off-topic for the list.

Either:

1)you are talking about objectclass groupOfNames, where you can just
make a new dn with member attributes with the dn of the user (in which
case you should ask on a generic LDAP list if you have problems)

or

2)you are talking about the nss_ldap/pam_ldap posixAccount and
posixGroup, in which case you should note that the user's primary group
is stored in the gid attribute in their entry, but additional group
memberships are configured by adding a memberUID with the user's
username to the posixGroup entry for the group. Further discussion on
this topic should go on an nss_ldap/pam_ldap list.
