RE: Is the Redhat's openldap distribution broken?



Developer will need the include files, right?
 
And, IIRC, openldap-devel-2.X.XX-X includes "ldap.h", if u r compiling/building nss_ldap, it will need this file.
 
I did not disagree with this package layout, some others distros have fewer than three rpms, it is just a little confusing  to some people that they initially thought "openldap-2.X.X.X" includes EVERYTHING, instead of just the libs files. 
 
Another odd is RH OpenSSL shared objects is in /lib, if one were to use SSL/TLS in OpenLDAP, some renamings and replacings of OpenSSL .so files in /lib are needed when you upgrade OpenSSL using source files and default build option.

	Why would you need devel files (include files and libbla.so link) on a server?
	I agree with the package separation as it is.
