We are currently looking to change the structure of our directory which is actually running with a bdb database.

We want to use "alias" in our new directory, "alias" which are not
supported by this db.

What do you think about migrate the db to a ldbm? Do we have another
solution?

I suggest you read the FAQ about backends <http://www.openldap.org/faq/index.cgi?_highlightWords=berkeley%20db&file=756>, and note that BDB is the preferred backend, and that ldbm is somewhat deprecated, doesn't scale as well as BDB, and doesn't have as rich a feature set.
